damn i love canada! i fell in love with (diy) hardcore through bands like uranus and one eyed god prophecy ... again with buried inside and titan .... you know bands that have this heartfelt passion mixed with frustration and anger! so this is the newest eruption from canada called TEMPEST. and i m in love again ... Passages takes the listener through bitter and emotional crust, a trip that encompasses despondency, vitriolic rage and some really great sound samples. It's not a long record - in fact it's probably the perfect length, coming in at just over 24 minutes. The 7 tracks are of reasonable length but every single one is attention grabbing, not to mention the 7 minute epic self titled track that closes the album. I don't really have anything bad to say about this. Every moment of it is excellent, it certainly doesn't overstay its welcome and it has a great deal of replay value. "Dark Hardcore" to a tee, mixing aspects of Hardcore, Black Metal, and Crust in a unique blend of chaotic fury."

there are bands that have this one bombastic record and are never able to come close to it again .. NOT tempest – they made a huge advancement without loosing their sound or uniqueness. They sound even heavier on these recordings although the songs are more complex and very beautifully arranged. Angry and devastating - this isnt just another record. It is a statement!

This split 7″ featuring French noisy hardcore mob Stuntman and fellow Brits Art Of Burning Water is very new indeed and will hopefully help to kick you full-force into the second half of your week. It was forged out of a long friendship between both bands and is being released by a group of labels that share an equal friendship. Two heavy, fast originals and a Deep Wound cover. What’s not to like? If you want chaotic and brutally noisy hardcore, then Stuntman is most definitely your band. Metallic guitars, up-tempo blasting percussion and vocals delivered with ferocious intent should be enough for you on their song Easy Prey. However; if they’re not, then Stuntman’s combination of fast and slow heaviness will seal the deal. There’s the best of both worlds here including a heap of powerviolence-esque sludginess. Art Of Burning Water are known for not taking any prisoners.

The four-piece from the province of Belluno already called growing attention with their ! rst full-length “Sospesi Nel Vuoto Bruceremo In Un Attimo E Il Cerchio Sara Chiuso” in 2014 and is now setting off to the next step in their career. With “Ere”, the band delivers 13 songs of pretty intense and diverse Hardcore that are housed in a nice inside out printed gatefold cover released by Moment of Collapse Records. Hailing from the small town of Feltre, Storm{O} have been on the map since 2005. Their name is derived from the mingle of a dark storm and the Italian word for a " ock of black birds (“stormo”). This imaginary union is graphically described by the two brackets that represent the " ock of birds, and the letter “o” between the two brackets, representing a drop. Storm{O} play a unique mixture of pulverizing Hardcore that is guided by an aggressive and fast drumming. The furious song structures are leading into brilliant set breaks that mark the only spots to gasp for breath. The guitars act in the frame of a dynamic songwriting that leaves space for a couple of uplifting moments and the bass adds a discreet noise-rock edge. The basis of Storm{O}’s sound always remains as a harsh, driven and distorted wall of uncompromising Hardcore that is a good reminder of the early works of bands such as Uranus, Converge, Orchid or Catharsis. The screamed Italian vocals vary from anxious spoken words, to angry shouts and desperate screams. These guys de! nitely never lose their intensity and convince on full scale as they are sharing this collective passion for intense music, paired with a unique form of expression. Sømerset hail from Münster and play some chunky, stompy, screamy hc that touches base with Cloud Rat, Punch and Left For Dead - a promising set of influences that result in a fairly decent racket. Despite the heaviness it's not an all-out slugfest - there are a couple of prettier breakdowns which, when coupled with the strangled-duck vocals, actually remind me of Carlisle or the first Spirit Of Versailles 7".

SHITSHIFTER, the German trio is no slouch when it comes to aggressive tunes. "pyre" is kind of like a "best of" when it comes to their own sound. Every cut of every extreme genre they incorporate is done excellently. Their hardcore, grindcore, crust and death-metal elements are an explosive caustic cocktail. Clocking in at just 25min., "pyre", the vinyl debut by SHITSHIFTER is nothing short of awesome. Every one of the album's 9 tracks will pummel into you unrelentingly - think of a train with no brakes. From grimy hardcore riffage that seamlessly transitions into pure grind-metal madness - furious blast beats with a deadly array of bestial power-violence-esque riffs, the brutal, malevolent and bleak tone of "pyre" waste no time beating the listener to a shitty pulp.

Lich (RIP) already did the whole ‘effortlessly heaviest band in the UK’ thing for a few years, and now four members have decided to give it another shot as Savage Realm, who are resuming business by swapping out some of the crust/sludge leanings for hazy, otherworldly, hideously detuned death metal. The woozy tremolo melodies in ‘The Sea Of Claws’ and ‘So As Below’ sound like they’re being melted, and although they play loose in parts, it’s a case of giving you enough rope to slip around your neck before snapping tight with grinding, mechanical indifference. The guitars plummet down in to a gloopy murk so thick they don’t need copious amounts of distortion, so far down that you might miss the devastating beatdowns that they sneak in in between grim blasts and cavernous atmospherics. Every one of the four tracks is saturated with grisly character and conviction, and it’s hard to fathom who would dislike this, such is the quality.
