Impossible Orbits is Dephosphorus’ third album and savage beast at that. While clocking in at only twenty-five-minutes, the tracks are packed without feeling bloated. It’s some great grind, and something that’s not as concerned with blasting as hard as possible. Oh, they’re put you through a garbage disposal at times, but at others they’ll constrict your veins and be content with having you by the throat. This is next level grind.

This Desolate Veil was Jiyuna's second album and was released on CD back in 2002 with handmade wooden packages. We didn't have the money to do a vinyl run on it back then, but that has been in the back of my head for a long time, and is finally realized. Jiyuna were from Fort Myers FL and were together for roughly 11 years, but only touring for 10 days out to Texas and back. We were happy to be a part of a very vibrant and dynamic scene both locally and in Florida as a whole at the time, and this album was always my favorite material of ours, holding a power and emotional intensity that still gives me shivers. We played heavy screamo and were listening to lots of Funeral Diner, Envy, Reversal of Man, and Carlisle. Killer samples throughout as well. This vinyl edition is housed in handpainted, then screenprinted jackets with a newly designed insert by Joe Lachut. It was expertly remastered for vinyl by Dave Eck at Lucky Lacquers.

"The album may not be metal enough to satisfy the overlords at Metal-Archives, but it hits really fucking hard nonetheless. The opening track “Infantem” was the first single, released separately back in May, but remains my personal favorite — in part because of the big, craggy bass line that takes center stage briefly in the midst of the bleak, butchering riffs, the bone-breaking rhythms, and the vocalist’s impersonation of a man being consumed by flames. The haunting, somber clean vocals that come in behind those wretched shrieks are another memorable touch. “Infantem”, of course, isn’t the only stand-out track on this powerhouse record. The whole ride is blacker than brain cancer and as brutal as the clubbing of harp seals on a barren ice floe, pitching between near-berserk levels of destructive violence and slower, more methodical applications of cold cruelty. The riffing is also cruelly addictive."
