The Italian Post-Hardcore formation Storm{O} ! nally returns with a new full-length album entitled “Ere”. The four-piece from the province of Belluno already called growing attention with their ! rst full-length “Sospesi Nel Vuoto Bruceremo In Un Attimo E Il Cerchio Sara Chiuso” in 2014 and is now setting off to the next step in their career. With “Ere”, the band delivers 13 songs of pretty intense and diverse Hardcore that are housed in a nice inside out printed gatefold cover released by Moment of Collapse Records. Hailing from the small town of Feltre, Storm{O} have been on the map since 2005. Their name is derived from the mingle of a dark storm and the Italian word for a " ock of black birds (“stormo”). This imaginary union is graphically described by the two brackets that represent the " ock of birds, and the letter “o” between the two brackets, representing a drop. Storm{O} play a unique mixture of pulverizing Hardcore that is guided by an aggressive and fast drumming. The furious song structures are leading into brilliant set breaks that mark the only spots to gasp for breath. The guitars act in the frame of a dynamic songwriting that leaves space for a couple of uplifting moments and the bass adds a discreet noise-rock edge. The basis of Storm{O}’s sound always remains as a harsh, driven and distorted wall of uncompromising Hardcore that is a good reminder of the early works of bands such as Uranus, Converge, Orchid or Catharsis. The screamed Italian vocals vary from anxious spoken words, to angry shouts and desperate screams. These guys de! nitely never lose their intensity and convince on full scale as they are sharing this collective passion for intense music, paired with a unique form of expression. The band played hundreds of shows sharing the stage with bands such as La Dispute, Grime, Unsane, Lento, Big Business, Bane, More Than Life, Celeste, Year Of No Light and many more. “Ere” was recorded and mixed by Riccardo Pasini at Studio73, Italy and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, New York.

This Atlanta trio totally nails that raw punk rock sound perfected by bands like The Wipers and Hot Snakes. Wymyns Prysyn take that approach and add a thick and twisted layer of noise to the mix, leaving just enough air for the underlying melodies to permeate through. The lyrics are bleak and misanthropic, and are matched by some sick guitar riffs that are genuinely eerie at times. Released by Drugged Conscience Records, whose name accurately conveys the overall feel of this record. Highly fucking recommended!

"After arising from the ashes of the post-metal heavyweight Omega Massif in 2014, Cranial are now about to release their first longplayer „Dark Towers, Bright Lights“ that combines 45 minutes of thick and heavy sludge and doom. When the four members of Omega Massif split up, their musical future was vague but soon Phantom Winter, Blacksmoker and lastly Cranial came to life. For the latter, Omega Massif‘s Michael Melchers (guitar) gathered Julian Weidhaus (bass and vocals), Cornelius Merlin (drums) and Sebastian Kröckel (guitar and vocals) to work on the fi rst material which was later recorded by Tobias Anderko in his Blank Disc Studio. The two songs were mixed and mastered in the Tonmeisterei in Oldenburg and later released as the band‘s first physical release. The „Dead Ends“ EP came out in the end of 2015 via Moment of Collapse Records on CD and tape, while the vinyl version‘s appearance was enhanced with a screenprint on the B-side, a printed innersleeve and an inside out cover with a die-cut logo. The EP was highly praised by the international press which enabled the band to play the Droneburg-Festival among several other festivals and shows. In the summer of 2016, Cranial then booked the Tonmeisterei for a week to record the EP‘s successor „Dark Towers, Bright Lights“ with Role Wiegener. Similar to the „Dead Ends“ EP the four songs on „Dark Towers / Bright Lights“ are gloomy, heavy and abundant with a threatening atmosphere. When there is a leitmotif on Cranial‘s latest release, then it is a muddy and bloody plow that draws relentlessly through everything that gets in its way! This beast of an album leads the listener through an almost cinematic dramaturgy by stacking soundscape on soundscape. In the face of these sonic monliths, the tension becomes almost unbearable. Only then Cranial crush them to ruins just to repeat the procedure. Again and again with no time for relaxation. With that „Dark Towers / Bright Lights“ is highly recommendable for fans of Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna and the likes."

GLOOM SLEEPER return to the fray with a mighty sophomore album – a manic collision of driving pop melodicism, post-punk sang-froid and four-to-the-floor garage rock energy. Physically they’re in Germany, but their hearts are scattered all over the place: Macclesfield, where they’ve absorbed the raw gothic clatter of proto-Joy Divisionists WARSAW; Notting Hill, where the darkling shimmer of KILLING JOKE somehow found its way into the world…plus all manner of US punk-rock hotspots (New York, Detroit, Cleveland, you name it) dribble into the music like blood into water. They’re at their best when the strands unfurl across each other, like when the shredded-nerve guitars of "city of unrest" soft-fade into a tense, crystalline synth finale. Meanwhile out-and-out rock’n’roll cuts like "perceptions" and "he smiles" prod and poke at your punk-rock heart, daring you to reach into their sweaty embrace while simultaneously keeping you at a distance with a foreboding stare and an outstretched arm. Cold always feels warm once you’ve acclimatised, of course, and these are songs you’ll wanna get inside – if they don’t get inside you first. Essentially, "luminous galaxies" is a stunning leap forward. The best bit? Oh, just the creeping suspicion that there’s even better to come… but for now, this is a mighty fine place to start.

This is far from tech-death by numbers as far as it usually sounds. The angle Plethora comes at you from is more experimental and unconventional.Almost like a cross between fellow technical death weirdos Pyrrhon, mixed with the slippery and unorthodox rhythms of Gorguts, and aided by the spastic assault of Psyopus and Behold…The Arctopus. So if you have an open mind, and don’t mind filling it with madness, then Plethora should tickle your fancy. Or trigger a psychotic episode. It’s hard to tell, but one thing is clear, this is one ravenous and monolithically dense record that towers over most of their peers copy of a copy efforts.
